Tech wash is available in 300ml and 1 litre bottles and is used in place of traditional washing detergents to prolong the life and performance of you gear.
Why? and how?
A durable water-repellent coating (DWR) is applied by manufacturers to the outer fabric of the garment. This makes water droplets sit on the fabric when its raining and not soak into the fabric. This is called beading. If the fabric surface is dirty, the dirt attracts and holds water - it 'wets out', reducing its insulating qualities and ability to breath. If the fabric surface is saturated with water, sweat cannot escape due to reduced breathablility, impairing the performance of the waterproof membrane.
Tech wash revive water repellency by removing water-attractive contamination (hydrophilic) and are biodegradable liquids that clean effectively, removing dirt without damaging waterproof membranes.
Nikwax is is ideal for use on all breathable fabrics, such as gortex, Sympatex and eVENT.
